Gage is from Birmingham Alabama where his parents and lovely dog Hazel lives. He is a senior at Furman University where he is studying Environmental & Conservation Biology as well as Politics. His interests lie in the crossovers between conservation and public policy. He is excited to be a part of the Friends of the Reedy River team and learn as much as he can in the process.
In his free time, Gage enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, hiking, backpacking, running, and watching movies. You might find him in the mornings running on the Swamp Rabbit Trail alongside the Reedy River.
Q: What is the best vacation you've ever been on, or one that you have upcoming?
A: I traveled all over South Africa for a month. I was able to see lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, wild dogs, penguins, baboon, hyenas, elephants, hippos, and rhinos. It was pretty insane.
Q: What is the most fun part-time job you've ever had?
A: I worked as a part of a Trail Crew contracted by the Forest Service in the Gila National Forest in New Mexico (One of the most beautiful places on earth). We maintained, rerouted, and improved several trails that had been destroyed by a large fire a couple of years ago.
Q: What is your favorite outdoor activity?
A: Pretty much all of it. I love to hike and backpack. I also love to run. I have run a couple of half marathons but I am running my first full marathon this fall in Greenville.
